Walking past Sulunger Lake near Dalyan Turkey from the house my brother and I lived in at Gokbel, Turkey on that fine summer morning I would never have guessed I would leave Turkey after living there for more than 4 years to move to northern France. Nor would I have ever dreamt that from the forests of northern France near the Belgian border, I would look forward to returning to the United States after more than 8 years to live on a remote cattle ranch in the panhandle of Texas right off the infamous Route 66 freeway that brought so many travellers out west seeking adventure in the 30’s through the 60’s.

Update:  A year on the cattle ranch in Texas was quite enough for my wife and I. We have returned to the southcoast of Turkey to build a traditional village house in a small village named Candir next to the ruins of the ancient city of Kaunos.
